Imagine if….. 4-5 year olds
9:30 - 10:30am
Gorgeous dress up costumes? Yes! Creative movement activities? Definitely!
In each class our youngest actors will take a journey inspired by a Book of the Week. They’ll swing from jungle vines, trek across the dusty desert, and sail across stormy seas. These young actors will have some time on stage each week to get the feel of it. We’ll visit the real Barnyard animals and registered families can enjoy the playground!
Unicorn and Fairy Magic - Playmaking! k-7 year olds
2:00 - 3:00pm
Gorgeous costumes combine with fun creative thinking games and activities as students help devise a wonderful story about our favorite characters: unicorns and fairies! In this collaborative class every voice is heard. Includes a performance onstage for families and friends at the final class, and registered families can use the wonderful Burgundy playground. Come "play" with us!
Theatre Fun & Games 6-8 year olds
11:00am - 12:00pm
Performance-free creativity! For imaginative children who don’t want to take the stage, this fun and supportive class will encourage self expression in a comfortable environment without the expectation of a show at the final class. (But we’ll give everyone an option of being onstage too.) Using mindfulness exercises, poetry read alouds, theatre activities like pantomime, group storytelling, and some puppetry, confidence will grow each week and we’ll laugh a lot. Registered families can use the wonderful Burgundy playground.
Famous Characters and Scenes 9-18 year olds
3:00 - 4:00pm
Beloved characters come to life onstage in this class for students who are interested in acting and performance. Scene from A Christmas Carol, Alice in Wonderland, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe will be presented at the final class for families and friends. Registered families are also welcome to enjoy the Burgundy playground.
All summer camps are held at Burgundy Farm Country Day School and include a swimming lesson in the saltwater pool Monday - Thursday with free swim on Friday. Camp drop-off is between 8-8:30 am and runs until 3pm. Aftercare is available for an additional cost.
To register for a camp, please fill out the secure registration form linked below each camp. If you have any problems with registration, please contact Hugh Squire: email@example.com.
9-12 year olds (Upper Division) All day
July 15 - July 19
Harry Potter fans will love this camp! Campers will act out some of their favorite wizardry scenes onstage, scripted so campers have a chance to act out several different roles during the week. Live musical accompaniment will be provided by one of the talented Burgundy music teachers on piano! Get your wands ready, and watch out for that white owl! English accents are encouraged, and learning a "proper one" is part of camp. Butterbeer and chocolate frogs, anyone?
Over the Rainbow
6-8 year olds (Middle Division) All Day
July 22 - 26
The Wizard of Oz is the theme of this fun-filled camp that takes the essence of the beloved classic and trims it down to a 15 minute performance! Some basic singing and dancing is included, as well as improv activities and theatre games that help campers learn beginning acting skills. Live musical accompaniment will be provided by one of our talented Burgundy music teachers! Campers will paint the background for their skit, and enjoy a Tea party during the week. Families will be invited to go ‘over the rainbow’ at a performance on Friday afternoon!
The Mischievous Unicorn
6-8 year olds (Middle Division)
July 29 - August 2
Are unicorns always friendly and kind? In this fairy tale mash-up many familiar characters will find out for themselves! Along with practicing their parts for Friday’s show, campers will make a model shoebox "set" design, paint the background for their skit, and enjoy a Tea party. Don’t tell the students, but daily improv activities and theatre games help them learn basic acting skills too. Prepare to laugh a lot in this fun-filled camp. Parents are invited to join the fun on Friday!
Christmas Carol Audition Prep
9-12 year olds (Upper Division)
August 5 - 9
Perfect for students interested in trying out for area productions of A Christmas Carol, this camp will help young actors "nail" their auditions. Vocal projection, stage movement and character development skills will be honed, while theatre games and improv activities get the creative muscles firing each day. Interested actors will have a chance to practice their comic timing too. Campers will memorize scenes to perform for families onstage Friday. Bundle up, as they say, “winter is coming”!
