About Us

Meet Our
Program Director

A.C.T. founder and Program Director Roberta Masters-Cullen has been teaching children’s acting classes in the Alexandria area since 2004, starting with the after school program at Mount Vernon Community School. At the Little Theatre of Alexandria she helped launch the summer camp program eleven years ago, and more than a thousand children have made their first appearance onstage with her support. For the past seven years Roberta has been teaching drama at Burgundy Farm Country Day School. Her work at Burgundy includes assisting with middle school productions, seventeen shows to date. Roberta is a member of the Screen Actors Guild, is a former TV news anchor, and does some work as a voiceover artist for radio and television projects.

Work with Us!

Alexandria Children's Theatre welcomes enthusiastic instructors to share their joy of creative movement and acting classes with young people. Opportunities are Saturdays at the Burgundy Farm location, and in our after school program in Alexandria public schools. Commitments range from one hour on Saturdays, or ninety minutes one afternoon a week for a 6 - 8 week period for our after school classes. Lead Teacher applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in theatre and/or education plus experience working with children.
