While we’re heartbroken that summer camp can’t be held at the beautiful Burgundy campus this year, we hope these fun-filled online options will bring some laughter and happiness to area children. Email Roberta@ACTheatre if you have any questions - and please take good care of yourselves!

June 22nd

Middle Division - The Crayons Quit!

9:30 - 11:00

Min. 6 Max. 12 campers (Ages 6 -8)

If your child likes this story, they’ll LOVE our camp! Each day campers will
learn about how to use their voices and movements to show character,
they’ll tell jokes, and we’ll laugh a lot. Campers will have a show online
Friday afternoon. Instructor: Roberta Cullen

Let’s Write a Play!

9:30 - 11:00

Min. 6 Max. 12 campers (Ages 9-12)

Drama Teacher Emily 'ej' Jonas teaches this camp filled with fun drama activities, character building, and play writing! Theatre activities, devising characters, and creating a script based on the group’s ideas make up each morning. This process, playmaking, lets individuals learn about themselves as actors and learn to create through the process. An "online" show on Friday completes the fun! Instructor: Emily ‘ej’ Jonas.

Down the Rabbit Hole!

Based on Alice in Wonderland, in this fun camp children will learn how to use their voices and movements to show character, they’ll tell jokes, and we’ll laugh a lot. Campers will learn a short script to share with families on
Friday afternoon. Instructor: Roberta Cullen

Musical Time Travel

Dive into a different decade each day and explore an important musical of the time! Students will play games, act out scenes, sing, dance, and have fun - plus learn some theatre history and performance skills!

Every day we’ll sing a bit, we’ll dance a bit, and we’ll immerse ourselves in
the classic story, The Wizard of Oz! We’ll have fun theatre crafts too! Our
magical version is adapted for a very short, fun show online Friday.

Students will move and laugh a LOT as we play improv games together
and they’ll have a chance to learn acting basics like using their voices and

Upper Division - Learn How to Audition

Join talented musical theatre director Matt Brady to get the scoop on what
to expect from the minute you walk in the door to audition! Learn about
resumes, head shots, and what to wear/not to wear. Every question will be

answered, and campers will learn a short dance sequence and song to
use for upcoming auditions! Online presentation for families on Friday.

The Mischievous Unicorn

Are all unicorns nice? Find out in this fairytale mash-up camp that
combines unicorns and favorite characters from fairy tales in an original
script that will bring a smile to every face! We’ll play some acting games,
do theatre crafts and tell jokes each day. Campers will have a short

Grab your wand and your robe and join us for this wonderful week of
Wizardry! Campers will learn spells and test their Hogwarts knowledge
daily. Theatre crafts like set design will be included. Short scenes will be
memorized to be performed online Friday afternoon along with all the

Dinosaur lovers unite for this funny camp where we’ll step (or fly?) back in
time. Campers will get to tell their favorite Dino-jokes each day, do theatre
crafts, and help create a short skit for families based on their favorite
dinosaur - using their ideas!

Upper Division - Singing & Dancing for Musical Theatre

Nikk Amico will share her love of performing in this
informative, fun week! Campers will do some acting, learn a bit of
choreography and a song that they can use for future auditions for
upcoming shows and area theaters. Families will see an online

The English Garden

9:30 - 11:00

6-8 year olds

Min. 6 Max. 10 campers (6-8 year olds)

 

For children interested in wonderful tales of rabbits, squirrels, mice and
tricky cats all set in England. We’ll relax and read a story each day and
campers will act out parts of the story together and do some crafts in this
performance-free class. Great intro to acting that’s perfect for children not
quite comfortable performing yet. Instructor: Roberta Cullen

The ART of Theatre

1:00 - 2:30


Min. 5 Max. 10 campers (Ages 9-12)

Get your art supplies out and let’s explore making theatre “sets” with shoe

boxes, create a perfect costume for a scene, and learn a bit about
designing programs and posters. We’ll move a bit and tell some jokes
each day too. Perfect for students who may want to be backstage.

Intro to Musical Theatre

1:00 - 2:30

Min. 6 Max. 12 campers (Ages 9-12)

 

Students will learn beginning acting and singing for the musical theatre.
They’ll explore creating a character, acting a song and telling a story with
movement. Pivotal moments from American musical theatre will guide their
exploration. Campers will begin crafting skills as triple threats + have fun!
Instructor: Nikki Amico.

Bust The Audition Jitters!

1:00 - 2:30


Min. 6 Max. 12 campers (13-17 year olds)

 

Students will go through an extensive warm up to invigorate their physical
life and ease performance nerves. Exercises can be used to get energized
before their next audition or performance! Students will be guided through
individual work on songs or monologues specifically to use on Zoom.
Actors will perform virtually on Friday to practice their new skills!
Instructor: Nikki Amico.
Note: accompaniment track required for individual song work.
