Actors can bring a current photograph. School pictures are fine. And we’ll be taking pictures too. You’ll need a signed Parent Acknowledgement and Conflict form. No photo? No problem. We’ll take a photo of your child.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your audition time to check-in. After your audition, you are free to leave. Auditions are closed; parents and/or peers will not be permitted to watch.
What to Prepare for Auditions:
One week before auditions “sides” or sections of the script will be sent to everyone registered to audition. Actors will need to sing 16 bars (measures) of a song they’ve chosen. An accompanist will be available and actors are encouraged to bring the sheet music for themselves + the accompanist. Actors singing without an accompanist can also sing a familiar song (such as Happy Birthday) with the piano, in addition to their song choice. For the dance portion of the audition actors are asked to wear sneakers or dance shoes.
Callbacks:
New to theatre? A callback is when the director wants to see an actor again. This is by invitation and will be held on Monday, March 23rd from 6:30 - 9pm at Burgundy Farm school. All actors auditioning must be available to attend callbacks. At the callbacks, actors will be asked to sing and dance again, and read sides from the script. A callback allows the production staff to gather more information about an actor. Not being invited back doesn’t mean you are not being considered for a role. Likewise, a callback does not guarantee a role in the show. Callbacks are a time for the director to see and hear from an actor again.
